Doyle is one poker player who no words can ever be used to describe him. He has been playing poker for over 50 years, thus seeing more hands in the game than any one has ever done. Moreover he has always remained on the top, not vanishing as Amarillo Slim did; Doyle is one person that every poker player on the internet should honor him greatly. As he is the backbone from which the Texas Hold’em game has been developed, Doyle has completely transformed the game of poker. He is like the best poker; in short he is the best among the best, to spit it all he is Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods put together.
Talking about all poker events, Doyle is one player who seem to have been to all of them, and not only playing but also winning. Since his achievements in poker are overwhelming, in the WSOP Championship he has taken home ten bracelets more than any other player in poker, only Johnny Chan who surprisingly enough has ten to himself. Furthermore in the WSOP Main Event in seven years duration he managed to get to the final table, astonishingly five times. More over he won in the back-to-back titles in 1976 and 1977, afterwards he took 2nd, 3rd and finally 4th in the next five years. Besides all these Doyle also participated in the WPT Legends of poker title in the third season, where also amazingly busted 665 other players and took home $ 1.2 million. In addition, Doyle has being in the highest-stake cash games, winning for an incredible 30 years. With all these accomplishments Doyle has really raised his game when the risks are more.
To add to all there Doyle is a great author as he has two poker books that serve a great deal in to some poker players, they are considered as the bibles of poker, these are the Supersystem and its’ follow up the Supersystem 2. One well-known claim in the books is that most great poker players force their opponents into making their verdict for all their chips, such theory has been seen in most recent players the likes of Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen. Being a victorious player sometimes comes brings more problems and as to always make sure that he wins the game, although in some situations he is forced into letting his opponent bust him knowingly, as he had a shot gun at his forehead and was left to play along as instructed to do. Whenever such incidents happened Doyle would only forget about it and go on to his next game.
He was not impressed by his performance in the Poker Superstars Invitational game earlier in the year. In that game Doyle seemed either fatigued or sought of old as he was always trailing behind his opponents. He was playing Gus Hansen who seemed to have really cornered him. It was hard to believe that Doyle would come up again and play his best game once more, this was during the WPT Season 3 Legends of Poker Final table game, where he got to the final table with a staggering $1.6 million chips having played his “A” game, against his opponent Lee Watkinson, where he started him on heads-up play, although Lee was also at the same level as Doyle at the table. Doyle understood the game and having chopped out small pots, he waited to let Lee do all the work as Doyle knew very well that Lee would come heads-up and that when he would come bust him out.
