I suppose this is what I mean by using the words.."trying to instill and maintain PG-13 stance."
As WhistleBlower pointed out, some words do cross into kid's movies, and here we allow some of that to transpire. All we have is our personal judgment, so on the site -we try to find the appropriate line. And it's never easy. This is why the moderator in question asked several other mods their opinion.
Yes, kids use more foul language than many adults do, but that doesn't mean it's okay as adults to use profanities because there is an inherent responsibility involved when dealing with other people's kids on a privately owned site.
It's less about what adults find offensive, but rather knowing that kids do frequent the site and thusly, adhering to that stance on the matter.
Face it, we aren't all going to agree what we find offensive, and we can all shout down political correctness -and that it's clearly gone too far.
However, remember this is not a matter for the moral majority but rather trying to find the line where kids can be here without an angry letter to the admin because their parents looked over their shoulder...heh.
The admin has allowed kids from the beginning...and further has asked that unoffensive language not to be used. We would love for each person to be able to discern for themselves what is appropriate what is not.
That would be in par with an impossibly Utopian society...heh. |
