In the rooms, I se people get like a 2,3,4,4,5 and come up with a straight.
So is it possible to do that for any straight? Like, 7,8,8,9,10?

no, not possible, u must be stoned or drunk to see ppl get a str8 wiv thm cards!!! they maybe will if they include the 2 cards tht they get dealt.

a strait must be 5 cards long. Examples A,2,3,4,5 4,5,6,7,8 10,J,Q,K,A. On Texas hold'em u can use all 5 cards from the table or 1 or 2 cards from your hand to make the best possible hand. On Omaha you must only use 2 cards from your hand and 3 cards from the table to make your best possible hand. In your example I am assuming that these were the cards on the table (2,3,4,4,5) The player that won must of had an A or a 6 to complete the strait. Hope this helps.

of course you can get a straight when the board is 23445, namely if u have A or 6 in hand plus any of the 2345 or 6 and 7 in hand. Use those 2 cards and the missing ones from the board (3 of them).
This is not different from the board containing 245xx or 246xx.
