People are having fun and making what they view as helpful suggestions. Several Mod posts in here have the tone of rolling eyes and annoyance.

What harm is there is the thread? Or in resurrecting some other old threads for the fun of it? Or in having a healthy discussion about how the community is governed?

There has always been a shroud of mystery surrounding Mod coronations. They are arbitrary (with many very fine ones and some strange ones) and lack the legitimacy of a democratic process. I think that this has resulted in some disrespect and distrust over the years. Of course, it has also resulted in wonderful volunteer efforts and a great site (all in all).

I just about had heart failure when I read that boozy was rushed to the hospital. What's the point in resurrecting that one?

Seriously, it's becoming annoying for some of us. Mod or no mod, I see no point in pulling up threads from 2 or more years ago. It just litters the forum with threads that are not current or irrelivant, burying the newer ones that should be replied to.

Lay the old ones to rest already. Please.

I have to disagree night, the site has a lot of history and it is good to see some of the old posts getting resurrected as the new ppl to the site can look at some of the fun and debates that use to go on, and the ppl that use to post a lot like wonka who hardly any know now cause he was away so long.In the past if a thread got out of hand it was blocked or deleted so they can't be resurrected so what's the harm in bringing back old memories

Of course that was a dumb thing to do...but the recurring revival of the congrats to Daniella is a tradition and quite amusing. Sometimes it is fun to be nostalgic too..so it will continue, I'm sure...without the sky falling.

I have agree with Woosh. I didn't know this thread existed so it's been very pleasureable reading for me. Thanks GP for reviving it.

Also, I have to admit that I'm much delighted that my name has been mentioned here four times as a favored candidate for becoming a mod. That means so much to me guys. But me? a mod? nawwwwwww:)

There have been many good Mod appointments over the years that seem to be based on even temperment, friendliness...so you should feel good about that, Evanee.

Some other appointments are a complete mystery based on connections, over-looking fine candidates more senior and suitable. Bat's post showed good self-awareness in this regard. If you are short-fused or thin-skinned or disengaged..not a good fit.

There doen't seem to be a rotation policy either (fixed terms based on a time period or the level of continued presence on the site)...might be worth looking at.

Yes, reading about Boozy was a blast.

No worries -- I'll just check dates before reading threads from now on (since I appear to be the only one bothered by it). Carry on.
