Hi all,
I am getting married in June and was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions for songs:

1) Processional
2) Recessional
3) First Dance
4) Reception songs

Would love to hear your thoughts!!
thanks,
Hclare

p.s. We are a little punk/indie/oldies kind of crowd. Not too much on the sappy...

1) Processional -

I touch myself (The Divinyls)

Quote:
"When I think about you
I touch myself"

or

White Wedding (Billy Idol) ... sorry obvious one there ... d'oh

2) Recessional -

Baby Got Back (Sir Mix-a-Lot)

Quote:
"I like big butts and I cannot lie"

or

This Is The End (The Doors)

3) First Dance -

Jailbird (Primal Scream) ... I wish we had this as our first song instead of Spandau Ballet's "True"

Quote:
"Im yours, youre mine
Gimme more of that jailbird pie"

or

The Drugs don't work (The Verve) [friends actually had that as their first song!!!]

4) Reception songs -

Fight For Your Right (The Beatie Boys)

Quote:
"You gotta fight, for your right,
to paaaaaaaaaarty"

or

Lets Get This Party Started (Pink)

Congratulations by the way HClare.

I used to be involved with the music business (ten years ago) and my partner and I were developing an act at the time called Kate Tunstall (KT Tunstall) - you might have heard of her?

I got Kate to do an acoustic set for friends of mine for their wedding ... they really like The Cowboy Junkies' version of Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane" - so their first song was KT Tunstall singing and playing that on her acoustic guitar along with a cello player and a bongo player in the background. They loved it.

It was a great wedding at a secluded castle in the Scottish Borders that the Rolling Stones used to hang out in during the seventies.

I offered to get Kate to sing during the wedding (which was outside in the gardens) but they had gypsy fiddlers instead ... d'oh.

sure is easier to think of inappropriate lyrics for the occasion...Still Haven't FOund What I'm Looking For probably not a good one

Panda's suggestions were hilarious

will the ceremony be in a church or outside or where? (bagpipes vs organ vs polkaband vs guitar for the processional) ..lots of beautiful classical stuff I can suggest if you are interested in that for processional...or choose some indy tune you both find meaningful and get an organist or classical guitarist to do a version...

i like 70's funk so Cut the Cake might be something for the reception...

I'm thinking "I Wanna Grow Old With You" from the wedding singer.

Sweeeeet.

The ceremony will be indoors. The Secret Society Ballroom - it's very cool, kind of gothicy.

Not so much into the classical, but that may be the way to go.
