Most of you guys are in the UK, some are in the US and i'm in Australia as others are and it seems that even though we are thousands of kilometers/miles apart we all did the same things. Got plenty of sunshine and fresh air playing the same games. As has already been said, no technology to rely on just your imagination, something that seems lacking in today's kids.
I honestly can't remember ever saying to my parents "I'm bored". You just went outside and did what ever came to mind. Great memories that i cherish to this day.

And yes a Big thank you to shaunieboy

old days- no internet. no sky. no fridges. no freezers. no games consoles. no cd's. no microwaves. no washing machines. sounds like great fun.

but as u pointed out it was so amazing becos u had a reliable ice cream man. (watever floats ur boats, but i no which era i would pick to live in.)

as for being bored if any kid these days says that they deserve a slap, i h8 the word bored and i've never used it. theres so much to do in life i think its great, and as they say only boring people get bored.

Besides nobodys complaining about their youth just reminiscing & theres nothing wrong with that .
If you wanna see some complaining try this

I just passed one of the now derelict woolworths buildings earlier which got me thinking about nicking sweets from the pic and mix which then reminded me of a harrowing incident from when I was about 5 or 6 which I hadn't remembered for years.

It was my mum's birthday so me and my two older brothers walked to the local shop to buy her some chocolate. I bought her some kind of mint chocolate pyramid thing, paid for it, but when trying to leave the shop one of the woman who worked there stopped me and accused me of thieving the chocolatey thing. She called the police who promptly turned up and proceeded to frighten me with all kinds of threats and methods of intimidation, making me cry in the process. Eventually, the woman who I had given the money to for the chocolate returned from her fag break or wherever she was and the situation was promptly resolved. The woman who accused me of stealing now runs a nursing home in the suburbs of Ely and the filth went on to mistakenly kill a Brasilian they thought was a terrorist. Probably. My brothers did their best to comfort me on the way home but I was so shaken up that I dropped the chocolate pyramid and when I gave it to my mum it was all smashed up. I think this was one of my first realisations that grownups were a bunch of very twisted liars. We all lived happily ever after.

Bents - you know you can click on "edit". Although it did open the door for a bit of trivia.

They used to put a fig leaf over David's (a copy) member at the Victoria and Albert museum when Queen Vic would visit.

ive never shoplifted but when my boy was in a pram he took some cheese in a tube from the shelf and hid it in the pram, did'nt notice till I got home really embarassing.

anybody remember being able to fix there own car? Sunday morning nipping to the local scrap yard for a few parts (light bulbs in the pocket) but had to pay for a new bumper for the old ford cortina. Now we cant touch the damm things cos there that many chips in them and theres that many electrics in them a fuse blows suddenly your cars dead bring back the old engines much easier

Above your post you have, written in blue; "reply quote edit". Click on "edit" and you'll be able to delete your spurious "is". I hadn't realised the c-nile virus had affected you quite so much old boy.

You see my previous post where it says "Edited by: BrownTrout"? That was me that was. I edited in a comma and a semicolon in the first sentence to make it less ambiguous. It's a wonderful feature - I have to use it all the time to censor myself before the hounds get to me as I often forget myself when I'm tapping away.

We had a french teacher called Fanny Kuhler (honist!!) in 1st year of grammar school. She caught me writing porn poetry. At first she took hold of my blotter and loudly proclaimed, "Boy we shall see what you have written as it is obviously far more interesting than my lesson!" She must have scanned the first couple of lines before deciding not to recite out loud and proceeded to rouge up. Confiscated my blotter and sent me for the cane. Oh the pain. Best porn I ever wrote, never to be returned. Often wondered if she kept it for nat home if you get my drift.
We had an exchange teacher over from france and I was in luuuuuuuurve. They were charging sixpence at the school disco to give her a quick kiss. She stamped on my toe when I tried to use tongues. Went back for more, spent my bus fare and had to walk about 5 miles home.
Memories are made of this. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, nostalgia....... it ain't what it used to be.
As far as nicking goes. I nicked a corky (hard cricket ball) from the newsagents. Felt consumed with guilt so sold it to Keith Hicks for 4d.
Got chased by the gamekeeper for nicking trout out of his pond. At the time my cousin was in the hothouse getting grapes... teamwork like that is hard to come by. Got caught by the shopkeeper nicking sweets and told off proper by her as we had to put them back. Never noticed the pack of bacon I got before she saw us. I'd never tasted smokey bacon before that.
You wouldn't believe my mum and dad were convinced I was going to be a priest.

By the way 'honist' wasn't an honist mis-spelling it was meant to be ironic that a grammar school kid couldn't spell the simplist of word .....................................

Why not to edit:

So...then she took her [EDIT] and suggested that I [EDIT] her with it. Well, you can imagine how well that went down with my girlfriend, not to mention the Nutella company.

These days, I enjoy thinking about [EDIT]ing with MOD_[EDIT] much in the same fashion, although perhaps with something less filling...

browntrout, you have just reminded me of something i had not thought of in years. when i was about 12 my sister 9 did a little bit of 5 finger discounting at a local store and got caught. when she got home she told me. she also said that she had to get dad to call him. she then begged and pleaded for me to ring instead (lol). so being the good big brother that i am, i rang him. trying, (in my best deep voice) haha to sound like my dad, i apologised to him for her stealing. he listened and chatted for a few mins, he then said, son i think you should get your dad to ring me. and here's me thinking i was doing a great job. i ended up in more strife than my sister haha.
i laugh about it now, but didnt back then.
