i come to all members of this site, in need of some advice.
the story i am about to tell you is true.and it is happening to me and my family......

In 1988 when my daughter was 3, she had an imaginary friend, the freinds name was mary ven-hough,every night when i put my daughter to bed, i would have to say goodnight to 'mary', every time we had a meal, mary ven-hough would have to have one too..
this was a standing joke in our house, no body took it serious,
after about a year, mary ven-hough seemed to vanish, much to my daughter's dissapiontment...

Now 10 years later my daughter is 13, i was at durham city libary on saturday afternoon doing some research into the after life,
i started to talk to one of the assistent's who work there, we were on about spirts and the dead ect ect,and she mentioned childrens imaginary freinds,to this i started to laugh, and told her about mary ven-hough. we both decided to see if we could find any thing about her,
after about an hour she came across to me with a bit paper she had wrote on,
she looked me in the eyes and said..'they was a little girl who went by that name, she and her family lived in the north east of england, she was part of a traveling show in the 1860's, in 1865 she died at the age of 9 due to freak accident, her father, thomas ven -hough died the same year in boat accident, there are no records of her mother's death, only to say her maiden name was rose,...
with this news i shook from head to toe, you see my surname isrose....
i came home and told my wife, she was taking aback, i told my daughter and she said' told ya so'.....omg
was mary ven-hough trying to tell my daughter something.?,,mmmmmm

but the story does not end there, you see i work night shift, i went to work last night at 10pm (sunday night), at 1:35 in the morning, my wife rang me crying her eyes out, she said, she was woken up by some one laughing outside the bedroom door, it sounded like a little girl, but not ours.............

what do i do friends, i am crapping my self.............

No, on a serious note willy do nothing mate , the spirit of this little girl subconsciously has been living with you for years as it sounds, and have done you no harm. I am sure it will stay that way if you can live with her.
Lovely story willy good luck.

best wishes twr.

Willy my friend,

It appears to be nothing. Your wife could have been hearing things and going back to what TWR said, if you have been living with the spirit of this girl for a while and it hasnt done any harm i wouldnt worry about it.

Willie, I have a question. Did your daughter actually pronounce and spell Ven-Hough all by herself at the age of 3?

Sell the house as haunted or rent the rooms for over night.Either way you will make a packet.
It's like the other's sure that you are still alive?????

I once heard a woman laughing inside our bedroom - only problem was that it was my wife and she was laughing at me.

Do nothing. Obviously the spirit has had good intentions until you and your wife discovered a by-tag in a newspaper. I say welcome the little girl spirit with open arms and just act like she's another member of your family. That way you forget to be scared at all.

thanks guys,

we are really worried about this, you see until the weekend this kind of stuff would make me laugh,i would have said 'load of crap, your just weak', but my opinion of things have changed rapidly...

my wife wants to get a priest in, but again im not sure what to do....
the thing i cant get my head round is mary's mam's maiden name,
is it her that wants somthing...?

yes ynot, my daughter at age 3 would say her name, we would laugh cause the way she said it was 'mary vain hooooo, to hear her say the name was so funny,..not now though.......

i spoke to my daughter tonight before i went to work, she said 'dont be scared dad,she did nothing last time'...OMG..i am so freaked out...!!!
on the plus side, my wife says nothing happened last night.

@ keywest cheers buddy,,lol...(i would say the same, pre the weekend)...

im sitting in the dinning room typing this and the hairs on the back of my neck are standing on end, just the mention of her name frightens me.....

once again thanks

Hi Willy,....sit down with some chocky and let me tell you my story :)

I had a similar experience that you have had,When my son was about the same age of your daughter. We had a friend that did the catering for our wedding reception, who sadly died suddenly a couple of years after, following a routine operation. She left a husband and three boys under the age of 12. Her husband decided to sell their home the following year which was a two bedroomed house for a larger one and we bought it.

About 3 months after we moved in, my son started to tell us that a lady came and sat at the end of his bed at night and talk to him,we didnt, take much notice at first, thinking that he too had an imaginary friend.

After a while i started to ask him questions about this lady, and he told us that she would come out of an alcove in his bedroom, said that she was a big lady with a nice smile and would sit on his bed and say good night to him. He said that her name was Audrey. And guess what!!... Our friend that died was called Audrey!! and the bedroom used to be her sons bedroom!!

We were really shocked at first (as you can imagine). But after the sudden death of my dad , i - like you did alot of research into the afterlife, looking for answers. Alot of researchers suggest that all of us are born 'psychic' and it is only when we grow into society that alot of us lose this ability, but a few maintain it and go onto be 'mediums', spiritulists, etc.

My theory on our situation is that because Audrey died so suddenly she was not ready to leave her sons and her spirit stayed in the house.

We moved to a larger house when our daughter was born, and i wished that i had asked a priest to visit before we left to help her 'move' on so she could be at peace, just incase my theory was right!

So you see Willy you are not alone, these things do happen and if you are really worried about it, and she visits again, get a priest in it might help.

Please keep us updated on your situation.

Billions of people have lived and died. Probably thousands by the name of "ven-hough" or similar sounding names.

If your daughter made up a name for her imaginary friend, no matter how weird the name, the chances are you will find people who have lived and died with that name.

It's easy to freak out when you think something is happening like this, but it sounds like mere coincidence to me.

If it turned out that this Ven Hough family lived in the same house as you previously, or something, then that would get me shivering as well. At the moment though, it sounds like it is a worry over nothing! :)
