LHW - ignore that "hint" i gave you. not applicable, bogus, not true. To all others: was not a valid clue, and if i repeated it, it would only serve to confuse. Sorry, lefty

A poker player had a sitting room with only one window in it - a square window, three feet high and three feet wide. Now, he had weak eyes from staring at his monitor, and the window gave too much light, so.....he sent for the builder and told him to alter it, so as to give half the light. Only, he was to keep it square and keep it three feet high and three feet wide. How did he do it?

Did he just move the window so the light didn't go into it?

DarkStranger ref Window: Built a brick mullion in centre that was 1ft 6 inches across and 3 ft high. Thus reducing light input by half?

Hovis, of course that is a valid solution, however, in the gist of the riddle it is not the answer. But you are so close my friend, so close, yet so far away. You are on the right track however, just apply it differently

It's more powerful than God.
It's more evil than the devil.
The poor have it.
The rich need it.
If you eat it, you'll die.
What am I ?

LOL johncess. Hovis, you asked if he built a 1.5 X 1.5 ft window on the outside of the existing 3 X 3 ft window. Was that right?
