Many of us make the forum our first port of call in the morning.

We make our coffee and sit in front of our machines to catch up with whats being happening in the poker room. Before the hustle and bustle of daily life begins.

Maybe we see a complaint, or a request for a friendly league game. Or just a post that brings us a smile.

We may want a look to see if a friend has been on that we have not seen for awhile.

We may be in a good mood and laugh at someones witty remark and enjoy the daily 'banter'.

But also we maybe feeling a little down, or perhaps not feeling too well, and see a thread or a post that upsets us, and think to ourselves 'Oh no not again... Where has the fun gone?' Which then means we have then started our day off on a bad foot.

So if you find after reading some posts that leave you feeling a little down, or even a little frustrated, don't take it to heart, life's too short...

Just come to the inspiration thread, and see what is written,, and then walk away with a smile. Or take your coffee to a table and enjoy a few hands with your friends for awhile. :)

Have a great day :)

Lovely post Jane.

I have to go to the midlands for a job for a few weeks - any inspiration on how to stay sane in such a joyless part of the country for that long?

Love

This thread is so heart-warming, it's like boozybird has been watching my daily morning ritual - I get up, take my coffee to the laptop, and check the forum. She was so spot on about the different vibes one can get from the forum, good and bad, which in turn can stay with you through the day.

So put a smile on your dial, and enjoy your coffee and poker. ;)

Spot on, boozybird. Great pick for the first posting.

Too much time and love is wasted worrying about what happened in the past. Love is something that should be celebrated and cherished in the now, for way too often, what isnt said can never be said again.

Don't set yourself up for living with the regret that you never said "I love you" that last time.

A nice thread Boozy, good to have a pick-me-up on the forum and a place for smiles. We all need it sometimes. Good way to start the morning with a nice coffee :) xx

Is 7.00am too early for a whisky in my coffee???

Ever find yourself walking into an establishment, and feeling at once -like it's home?

Suddenly, you feel like you've just always been a part of the scenery, as if you always knew the folks whom hang about. A place where people greet you with a smile; when you wave from across the room. Where inside jokes are formed....and friendships born.

You know about people....their kid's accomplishments, their hard-luck times, a new baby coming into the world, a pet getting well after a sickness....a visit to the hospital which turned out okay.

And it matters, the people within these virtual walls.
They matter to you...they are now your friends.

Welcome home...

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself to others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.

Don't let life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live up all the days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something left to give,
Nothing is really over . . . till the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect.
It is this fragile thread that binds us together.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances, that we learn to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love;
the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;
and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope;
to be without hope is to be without purpose.

Don't run through life so fast
that you forget not only where you've been,
but where you are going.

Life is not a race,
but a journey to be savored every step of the way.

Handwriting On The Wall
~Author Unknown

A weary mother returned from the store,
Lugging groceries through the kitchen door.
Awaiting her arrival was her 8 year old son,
Anxious to relate what his younger brother had done.

While I was out playing and Dad was on a call,
T.J. took his crayons and wrote on the wall
It's on the new paper you just hung in the den.
I told him you'd be mad at having to do it again.

She let out a moan and furrowed her brow,
Where is your little brother right now?
She emptied her arms and with a purposeful stride,
She marched to his closet where he had gone to hide.

She called his full name as she entered his room.
He trembled with fear--he knew that meant doom
For the next ten minutes, she ranted and raved
About the expensive wallpaper and how she had saved.

Lamenting all the work it would take to repair,
She condemned his actions and total lack of care.
The more she scolded, the madder she got,
Then stomped from his room, totally distraught

She headed for the den to confirm her fears.
When she saw the wall, her eyes flooded with tears.
The message she read pierced her soul with a dart.
It said, I love Mommy, surrounded by a heart.

Well, the wallpaper remained, just as she found it,
With an empty picture frame hung to surround it.
A reminder to her, and indeed to all,
Take time to read the handwriting on the wall.

=)
