Pokercide Note...

I have F5'd (it doesn't even work now), cleared history and cookies, logged out, restarted PC, uninstalled and then reinstalled latest Flash Player and Java, run our site in Google Chrome, IE, and Mozilla Fire Fox browsers, scanned with Malwarebyte, PC Virus Tools, and SuperAntiSpyware, reset my internet connection, done an error check and defrag, system restored to the golden days, changed my socks, and bet with only numbers ending in 7....

Nothing keeps me from freezing up, usually mid-hand,...avatars just keep flashing.

I can no longer play on the site. I am seriously contemplating pokercide.

If I do...to tincat I leave my libido, to gegs my collection of Partridge Family albums, Hovis please take my loafers, howard77 500k chips, Louann 500K chips and a hug, Willy Wonka my Political Correctness Manual, my remaining 1 million chips are to go to the first player who cures this dreadful mystery ailment.

Oh no Bento: ( I really hope someone can figure this out for you! It's very nice to see you back on the site and we don't want to lose you. I could really use the 1million in chips, but I have no clue about computer issues. I do know that it used to take me several minutes to change tables and now I can do it no problem after my hard drive was replaced? Best of luck, please don't give up!!!!!

"...avatars just keep flashing."

this sounds like your losing your link intermittently.. you might be using a wireless router. have you moved it recently? try different channel perhaps.

whatever..it does sound like a connection issue, considering what you've tried so far.

It appears you had done every thing on that puter short of format and reinstall the OS.
Next you should try a different puter, if problem persist, may not be your puter at all.

Need more info.
Please state your connection set up.
Are you on Dialup, Cable, Sat or DSL?
Type of connection, RJ45 or wireless?
If on wireless, other wireless equipment in the house? Such as wireless phone, etc..
Name and model of modem?

You are up near Newfyland area I believe, lots of crazy things can happen up there. :)

thanks for all these helpful posts and yours too, hovis & eggy

I am using a , believe it or not, 3G connection on my home computer. We are not served by any viable internet service in the woods where I live...also have satellite, but it is much slower and less reliable in bad weather.

The set up worked for a month without problems (in terms of my poker habit)..then last week the problems started. The signal does not seem to have changed in its speed or consistency.

I will check the video card and re-boot the router. Meanwhile, I am running a Dr. Webb virus scan as I have been having search re-direct issues also.

smoggy...do you mean a 'dongle' (as in a 3G modem stick)...then, yes.

..am looking into problems that may be arising from the fact that I am using 3G to play...maybe a Java issue...anyone know about 3G incompatibility with either Flash or Java?

The fact that it worked fine for a month, it sounds like a latency problem.
check the ping time, if it is high (over 200 ms) run traceroute to find the bottle neck.

This has to be the problem. It sounds quite technical and complicated, so that's why I think it must be what's going on.

Good luck.

ubuntu ..u may be right...but my understanding is that that would be an ISP issue rather than one I could do anything about...meanwhile...

taking into consideration all the suggestions you wise folks have offered and having narrowed it down to the connection (I think ynot and ubuntu pointed to that..yeah, like tony needs reward chips)...I still couldn't figure out why it was happening with my 3G feed...

then I found a setting on the software controling the feed (Sierra Wireless Watcher) that may act as a governor on the amount of data coming in. It is designed to keep you to your data-package limits, I think. Anyway, I reset it to 5000mb from 500 and then was able to play a whole tourney without being ejected. I still need to verify this is what is working though because I had uTorrent going in the background the whole time. When I turned that off, I started having some problems again..would the constant up and download keep the ping consistent? ..or maybe that was just coincidental.

Thanks again.

"When I turned that off, I started having some problems "

Are you saying that stopping utorrent started your problem again?
Usually it is the other ways around because of utorrent maxing out the upload bandwidth.

BTW, have you tried the connection with a friend's puter at a different location?
You do have friends, right? :))))))))))
