I don't follow soccer (football to some lol), but will be cheering the Aussie team on. They should be able to do some serious damage and upset the odd apple cart before they go out. (eventually)

By now most you know that Rio Ferdinand will not be playing in what would have been his 4th World Cup.
I was gutted when I heard the news and as a fan of this beautiful game, Manchester United and England supporter, I pray for Rio's full recovery to come swiftly and have every confidence that Steven Gerrard will shoulder the captain's responsibility in a manner befitting the honour of the band and lead England to victory.

" The Pointer Sisters - I'm So Excited "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKlvNv2iQCo

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen,
Tonight we'll put all other things aside.
Give in this time and show me some affection,
We're going for those pleasures in the night.

I want to love you, feel you,
Wrap myself around you.
I want to squeeze you, please you,
I just can't get enough,
And if you move real slow,
I'll let it go.
I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control
And I think I like it.
I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you.

We shouldn't even think about tomorrow,
Sweet memories will last a long long time.
We'll have a good time baby don't you worry,
And if we're still playing around boy that's just fine.

Let's get excited,
And we just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.
I'm so excited,
And I just can't hide it,
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you.

Odds point to a Spain and Brazil final, with England third

Thursday, 03 June 2010 09:41

There are loads of different World Cup betting markets available from the bookies. One of the favourites at the moment is to bet on what teams will make it to the finals.

The strongest selection at the moment with the shortest odds is a Brazil V Spain final. But what about England? Stop sweating, the second favourite according to the bookies is a Spain V England final.

England are entering the World Cup as third favourites, that means they're predicted to reach the World Cup Semi Final, if all favourites win their groups, England are on target to meet Brazil in the semi final. Everyone is predicting that Spain, Brazil and England will all reach the semi final, what team will fill the fourth space?

Germany will avoid the three favourites until the semil final, if they win their group. Most people have dismissed Germany this year but looking at their stats, they prove to be a formidable team. Their World Cup record is nothing short of amazing, their worst performance in twenty years is going out in the quarter final. Despite this amazing record, they are currently at a big price to win the World Cup.

One of the reasons they're seen as outsiders at this years tournament is their lack of star players and this is where England are hoping Rooney will make a difference. He is one of the favourites to win the Golden Boot, behind International stars Lionel Messi and current favourite David Villa.

John Obi Mikel to miss World Cup

Saturday, 05 June 2010 11:36

World Cup players are dropping like flies at the moment. Next on the list of players that were, but will no longer be playing in the World Cup is Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel who has withdrawn from the squad.

The Chelsea midfielder has been struggling with a knee injury and rather than risk his club career by playing, he decided to pull out of the Nigeria squad and make sure his knee is better for next season.

Dutch beat Hungary but Robben limps off

Saturday, 05 June 2010 17:02

Arjen Robben, the Holland wide man, will be taken to hospital for a scan on his hamstring tomorrow after picking up the injury during the 6-1 win against Hungary today.

Dutch coach, Bert van Marwijk, admitted he is concerned about Robben but will not consider calling up a stand-in until they can fully determine the extent of the injury.

"He made an unnatural move and then sustained the hamstring injury," Van Marwijk told the press. "He will not join us tonight on our way to South Africa as he will undergo a scan tomorrow as it was no use to do it now."

"My first thought was this can't be true, the end the final warm-up match, everyone is fit and then this," he added.

"We now have to wait. I can replace Robben until 24 hours before our opening match but as long as there is hope he recovers in time he will stay in the squad."
"I would rather lose this match and have Arjen stay fit. He felt a sharp pain. That does not bode well. But I do not lose hope."

Robben was a second half substitue and he also scored twice, with Robin van Persie, Wesley Sneijder, Mark van Bommel and Eljero Elia scoring the others.

' Shout ' Official England World Cup Song ' Dizzee Rascal & James Corden '

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGrqjZJxQfM

Dizzee Rascal has recorded a cover of Tears For Fears' 'Shout' with comedian James Corden as an England World Cup song.

Called 'Shout For England', the song has also been backed by Simon Cowell, reports BBC News.

"Shout, shout, let it all out Come on England!!!/These are the things I could do without/Come on, I'm talking to you/Come on/Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!"

The track, which will be released on June 13, raises money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and both Dizzee Rascal and Corden have waived their royalty fees for the song.
