Banning over swearing is bunk

I have no problem if a mod chooses to muzzle a player, even if indefinitely; but banning a player for using "offensive" language makes no sense. There's offensive language that is perfectly acceptable on this site. There's profanity that people use freely simply because of cultural differences, yet lesser curse words remain a banable offense. I think this is ridiculous where there are so many words much more offensive to some than the six or so words you can't say on t.v. Regardless, banning over something said in chat is ridiculous. I know everyone's different and some will agree, some not; but it reaches a certain point when you just have to realize you have a large wooden object inside your rectum and you're just being a bag of feminine hygiene product. See?

" but banning a player for using "offensive" language makes no sense"

thefreepokerroom is a family site, so yes banning for offensive language does make sense, offensive language is usually given warnings by mods, followed by muzzling, depending on the reaction to this yes banning is then enforced, and i for 1 totally agree with it. we come on this site to play poker and enjoy ourselves, and not to have that spoilt by a select few who choose to flaunt the rules.

just my humble opinion, but i'm sick of seeing decent people leave the site because of offensive language and behaviour.

well kenny this is a family site and children are on here too so why cant we just not do it. its in the rules right? If you brake a rule in life you are given a punshment. does the punishment in life always fit the crime i think not. If a thef gets a punishment of jail time and a child sex offender gets probation do you think thats fair? I hope not. Well it happens everyday. Its sick but true. I do agree with you that it should be a muzzlement and not a ban but if a ban is given you must apeal it like any other.

if a person cannot express themselves without using foul/abusive/offensive language, they are either poorly educated or plain ignorant. having worked in the construction industry i have encountered and used all of the above, but i believe the casual use of the above these
"modern days" is not "perfectly acceptable".

Just to clarify something for you lenny593, there is swearing and there is a buse. I, like all Mods and probably most members, have come across both.
If you swear then you will be asked to watch your language, with a warning that the next time may result in a muzzle. But, if you swear and abuse a player, then you may get banned. Depending on what was actually said.
Also, as has been pointed out already, this is a family oriented site with no age limit. So that is why there is no swearing or abuse towards another member, either in the table chat box or the forum.

I hope this explains why some get banned and others only muzzled.

As can be seen from the fact that swampy and mitch are both premitted to dribble their liquidized food on the tables and diggsy allowed to eat his rusks while LOOOLING everywhere over his bib...

What have I told you about making up stories about Diggzzy, Dev! It's his dummy (pasifier) that makes him LOOOOOL, not the rusks.

edit for typo :P

The only way to pacify diggsy is to gag him with a kebab...

After this comment you really need to say no more, unless you feel you need the hole dug a little deeper.

So your motto in life is, if we are told by our powerful father (the gov) (VERY SARCASTIC) that things are the way they are just because that's the way it is.... That we should just... lie down and take it? Because we've been told to or because those are the laws??

Who says?

And whoever it is that is saying it.. why do they have any power over you, they are entirely equal in every way and it could not be any other way.

[I'M] sick of everybody who have decided how things are in this world because they have been told it is that way... Eckhem.... so basically you shouldn't get banned for swearing, you should just get muted...

It's like saying someone has committed petty theft, the laws say that we have to mutilate his body and scatter his remains over the towns people at a giant feast of epic proportions all because he stole a fish... Well, we have no minds of our own and it's what the law says!! (thumbs up [thumbs down] smiley)

In the time i have been on this site, i have won over a million chips and lost as many. During this time i have had about every bad beat there is and also had two royal flushes. I have played league games at work with people breathing down my neck the whole time and sat at tables with people that frankly i couldnt stand. There have been times when i have had strong disagreements with other players and the forum would show this, but never have i felt the need to abuse or berate another player especially a women at the table. People who cannot control themselves when faced with a bad beat or heavy chip loss,s really should not be on here, simply because its going to happen and you need to exercise some control. That is the reason there are moderators, to keep these people in check and wake up the sleeping players who torment oldwrench in his dreams. The fact that after a person has abused another player and acted like a total baby and then can come on the forum and post that there should be no rules against there actions shows the freedoms they are allowed.

Bottom line is if you dont like it go somewhere else , i like most of the chip stealing gits and gitess,s on here so i obey the rules and try to steal them back when ever possible.

It's not like that at all. It's a kid friendly site that doesn't allow it's members to be abused. We like it that way, that's why we're here. Then once in a while a newbie comes along and forgets where they are, trying to be complete douchemonkeys in the safe anonymity of the net and then our mods have to mutilate his body and scatter his remains over the towns people at a giant feast of epic proportions.

Vulgarity:
1. The quality or condition of being vulgar.
2. Something, such as an act or expression, that offends good taste or propriety (American Heritage Dictionary).

This is in opposition to being polite.

Why would you not want to be anything but polite in mixed and unknown company?
