Just wanted to wish all the devoted, and wonderful fathers here on tfpr a.....

and I wanted to share a special fathers day I had with my dad a little over ten years ago....I come from a family with 4 siblings, and this particular fathers day i was financially strapped, and worried over what to get my father for fathers day. Of course he was being spoiled by my brothers and sister with gifts of dinner...golf....etc....so I came up with a gift from my heart...this poem....hope you enjoy reading it ..my dad did, and it even brought a tear to his eye....
What is A Dad?
By Elizabeth Ann Sherman
When I was just a toddler you were a daddy to me.
Someone to comfort, and tend to my every skinned knee.
You became a father when i grew older and started to roam.
I'll never forget the bone chilling fear of mom telling me,
just wait till your father gets home!
You see, I'd never truely appreciated the daddy, and father
you'd been to me.
I'd taken you for granted in my younger years because i was
too blind to see.
But being mom & dad to my own children now has opened
my eyes wide!
And has brought about painful regrets I should'nt hide.
My heart aches for my kids and the daddy, and father
they've never had.
And I've asked myself over the years, just what is a dad?
The answers i've came up with have always been the same.
A provider, protecter and teacher are some to name.
The answer list is long, and these were just to name a few.
But, to sum it all up....What is a Dad?...well, dad its you!
