I'm assuming you mean a cash game?
The number of players is irrelevant....so the what you are looking for is 100 big blinds per person. If the buy in is 10 -you'd divide by that...and it would be on the cent.

Um...I'm not sure what you are asking me here, but yes...Omaha is a real game, though what we have here...is never played in a Casino. Pot Limit Omaha, is never a hi-lo split game.

dani, im from the uk. we have decent cards and decent chips. but the idiots i play with want to change the rules every week.
they play it as a game of snap, (they want it over and done with within 30 mins, to get another game going) how would you suggest we use the chips? and sort the blinds?

so casinos play pot limit high win only, that would be nice to try, same as high low no limit free chips i guess just as difficult.

I'd play this as a cash game, because in a tournament only lasting 30 minutes, the blinds would have to go up so fast....it would just be a crap shoot.

And gee...and what's the hurry?....lol
Poker is a game of patience, if you are lacking that -you might as well be playing Roulette.

What's a better hand?

A9 off or KJ off
AJ off or KQ suited
K10 off or QJ off
Q10 off or J9 suited
J10 off or 89 suited

GP....my man....lol.

J10 off or 89 suited

My personal opinion?

A/9...typically wins, but K/J is a better hand.
K/Q is way better....but heads up....man, watch out.
Q/J is better....but again, the high card, heads up -has the advantage.
Q/10 and J/9...about the same.
I like 9/8 suited way better....

Percentages?
Go look at the calculator like the good player that you are.

Pretty good :-)
i really think 98 suited is very underrated and JJ is very overrated.

Hi Dani hun !!!

Got a question for you......

Hows you ?? lol

nahhh a real question this time......

At the end of a tourney they add the antes, we all know that. But how is it calculated? Im explaning myself... how they decide the cost of the ante? is it a % of the blinds or simply predeterminated from the start of the tourney??

By the way guys who still think that an ante and a blind is the same thing....no its not. I know that theres a lot of players who think that but a ante is an amount of chips that every players at the table must pay before they even get their cards and its put in the pot with the blinds and the bets and the winner of the hand win it all. It is for accelarating the paste of the tourney and dont let a player fold every hand when hes not in the blinds cause if he does hes gona lose money anyway.

So thanks for the answr Dani in advance and take care xxx

Hi,

I post the question agian, because I think it passed unseen...
why does the dealer tap the felt twice before the flop ?

( For the questions about organistion of home tourneys,
there are some useful sites:
http://www.homepokertourney.com
http://www.howtoshuffle.com
In particular, for the blind structure:
http://www.homepokertourney.com/blinds.htm )

re GP's question

This link shows pot odds.
http://www.beatthefish.com/poker-strategy/texas-holdem-poker-hands.html

Based on one opponent:

A9 61% v KJ 61%

AJ 64% v KQ 64%

K10 60% v QJ 58%

Q10 57% v J9[S] 56%

J10 55% v 89[S] 51%

As you can see - they are pretty much the same - but, hey, any 2 cards can win!!

Dealers tap to let everybody know action is complete and the dealer is about to lay down the flop. This gives people a chance to say anything -in case a mistake was made.

Speak now....or forever hold your peace.

Antes are always predetermined. Probably a dart board is involved, but the antes come in at about 1/4 to 1/8 of the blind.

I think GP was asking "This starting hand, or that," not "this starting hand verses that starting hand"....but I could easily be wrong.

Fish Tells #67

Not knowing how to shuffle chips. Hey, if you are at the tables a lot -you've learned how to do this.

=)

Clickity click...to learn how to do it, but I do recommend a felt-type surface, as it's much easier.

Well, he plays for a living....and does rather well, but no -he's nobody anybody would have heard of. He plays big stakes very quietly.

We all go on tilt upon occasion...
However, there is a way to make it work for you. If you happen to get a nice hand right after a terrible beat, making a big raise makes people think you've totally tilted, and are just playing any hand. This especially works in early positions.

This will earn you some callers...

Just make sure it's a nice hand.

Is AK suited a better hand than AA.. and if so, what's the best way to play these hands?

This is why I'm always repeating the phrase "It's only A/K...it's only A/K."
=)

Aces verses A/K unsuited has a 91% chance over the A/K. Slightly better for the aces; if your king shares a suit with the aces.

just a thought:
i think the best hands on the turbo tables when you're going all-in 1000
along with another 5/7 people is hands like KQ QJ J10 suited.
(if you realized, most of the time when 7 people are bingo all-in, either a straight or flush will win, that's why a suited connected hand has the best chance and actually KQ is more "open handed" then AK).
