Hi all,

I'd like to start a thread for serious comment, a number of people have mentioned minor changes to me in conversation, please don't use this thread to bad mouth someone or suggest a change of Titanic proportions. Of course any changes would take place over time as the powers that be discuss with the software developers, but a step in the right direction maybe

I'll go first:

I'd like to see the prize money in all tournaments include the top 3 getting their original stake back. Its hardly profitable (to your bank - yes I know its not real money) to play poker for30 - 40 minutes and make a profit of 600.

I think this would draw more people to the tournament tables

An easy solution to that, G, would be to increase the number of players per tourney before the clock begins. Maybe 5 or 6 (instead of the recent increase to 4).

That's a good idea Night but at 2pm Eastern Australia Time (4am UK) your lucky to find 4 players, if you needed 6 to start you'd never get a game and this would have an effect (imho) of forcing people away from the tourneys

Do i understand that you want the winners to win extra chips
that were not part of the prize pool built from the players buy-in.
That is, the house injects money in the tables like blackjack ?

True there are no refunds in real money poker and thats how it should be. Though I find the entry fees kind of pontless.

The tourney tables are profitable if they are 10-handed
(except for the 3k tourney which is never profitable)

What I notice is that the GM is empty even when there are players available.
The reason : they prefer to wait for the next DM than begin a GM.
And people that cannot afford the DM are left without opponents wanting to play.

Hence, the tourney tables might be better filled with the combination
1x 6k + 2x TT + 2x GM (which would remove the 3k and the DM).

The 3k table is full quite often. There are members here who would like to play a tourney who do not have 6k -- particularly the newer members.

Bat has the stats and he talks sense. I also agree with nights take on the 3k.

It's also easy to get a seat at the main tables as tourneys take away the players. The "fix" of a 50k loss or 250k win attracts a lot of members to DM, however the losses hurt good players and they are down to zilch, a quick bingo hit on the main tables gets their entry fee back and off we go again.

Not a good scenario for poker on main tables is it?

My take: Tourney= Texas 3k, Texas 6k, Texas 10k, Texas 25k, Omaha 10k.

How I would like the waiting at main tables to be the norm, it loses the bingo mentality and improves standards of play, because you know if you lose, it's back to waiting.

Just my thoughts and only a wish.

Also, I find that TT was better before site migration,
when we were stacked 1000 instead of 800.

In early levels, it allows proper preflop raisings, continuation bets, etc.
without being committed.

In late levels, it tends to avoid systematic crapshoot with the high blinds.

Good point.
That is something members can put their info into here. First, tourney layout has problems, or we wouldn't be posting.

i agree with batankyu about the 1000 in the treasure trap i love playing in there anyway but those few extra chips would always come in handy

I havent played anything but GM and DM tourneys for quite a while now, but that is only because the smaller tourneys were becoming almost turbo bingo tables at one point.. quite possibly this has changed now... I used to love the TT precisely for the reason BAT has outlined above... I would play TT again if it went back to 1000 stack start... maybe if the GM was a 1000 stack start that would help to fill the table? and maybe stop some of the early round bingo.....
I personally dont believe we should do away with the DM tourney simply because it was fought for and is so popular..

I am with Bat, I loved to play TT also with that 1000 chips...
To fille the tables better(GM) i also think DM is one step to much..If the DM wasnt there GM would be filled easy and I do agree on the Hovis point It might scare the bingo cause of the waiting list...because before the DM when we were sitting you always heard damn was to slow to click..:-)

Hey, this is off topic a little, but how about a mute button for the chat box? I've had many a good game ruined by petty bickering between players. Just a thought!!

I believe the carpets are in urgent need of cleaning or replacement. The avatars could definately use make-overs.

bad idea,
threads whose title contains the screenname of a member
often evolve into a lynch place for them.

Maybe more of a suggested improvement for the league rather than the actual site, but seeing the league is a big part of TFPR here goes..

Please take Omaha out of the league for next season and have just a Hold'em league. From what I've seen, there's very little enthusiasm for it (both in the league and Omaha turbo, which used to be the most popular table here)

I can't remember any league player ever saying they prefer the Omaha matches to the Hold'em matches. As a team game, it doesn't come close to the enjoyment of Hold'em. Maybe it's just on our team, but I worry that people will have very little enthusiasm for the league next season if half the games are Omaha. One big Hold'em league would be fantastic!

I know Tia and Hovis do a great job and put alot of their own time in to give us all the league, and I'm not having a go at them, just please please, don't make me have to play Omaha again lol

I agree Harrisson I hate omaha and I see in a lot of team threads some plays like to sitout in omaha league matches. So an all league texas holdem sounds great.

lol tell me about it m8. Earlier on in the season, when I booked up an Omaha league game, I posted the times and dates in The Dealers thread, I left out the "Omaha" part, told em it was a Hold'em game, it was the only way to get them to confirm their availablilty looool.

In my very blinkered view of ways to improve the site is to follow in the footsteps of most pubs and resteraunts. That is a Refit throw out that bleedin dank carpet, a nice burgundy or red material on all the chairs together with sanding down the vanish surround and re-varnish with a lighter shade to create a more inviting arena to lose money in.
