There is a few captains are recruiting from other teams. Asking good players to desert to them.

Now some feel flattered and puff out their chests and join, I hope you regret your lack of loyalty. I agree you want to join friends, but action it yourself and rebuff approaches.

If I find out blatant recruiting of anothers teams strengths, I will eat your face off.

I have to say, with respect to you, Hovis, that I believe this to be the time to make sure you are happy where you are playing - your first loyalty must be to yourself - that way, you will be a happier league player and it will benefit the league in the long-term.

Personally, the majority of my guys are fresh into the league - that was my primary aim to get new blood into the mix, so more nice people can enjoy the experience. However, I wanted a few good friends with me too; it just happened that they had played on teams already. They are still my friends and not the property of a league-team.

Btw, my last space that needs to be filled will be fresh to the league, one way or another. The delight of inviting a new person into our league is far nicer than getting a player who is already in it - I should know, I am the only one here that has created 2 teams and I have helped friends recruit fresh blood too. When you see a new player join and the excitement it brings - its a buzz!!!! As Placer said to me recently (I thought it was a really nice phrase that he used) ... there's no greater gift than to give.

So, please, Graham m8, don't be too hard (lol, and don't eat my face off for typing this - do aussies call that a pash?) on anyone that asks a friend to join; as long as players aren't jumping about and changing their minds like kangaroos with the attention-span of a squirrel, then, I think they are entitled to choose their poker-league-home themselves.

Otherwise, it might be terribly claustrophobic to be in a team where you don't feel entirely comfortable!? What good does that do anyone?

Ahhh the point hits home, but not fully I see.

I said don't recruit, not for unhappy or others that are friends, to leave of own accord. that's the big difference :)

Now where did I put the ketchup?

Hovis, maybe u should have (like in sports) transfers opening dates!!!

they are entitled to choose their poker-league-home themselves.

Pandy, that is different of team Captains chasing players commited with another team.

Team players who arenīt happy with their team or feeling claustrophobic should face his/her team first and then post their availability.

:)

You make a good point, as always, Jotster, but being realistic, every situation will be unique and who are we to judge, really?

The players are all "free agents", they will move between teams as they please untill they find "the right team or home, etc",the captains cant really do anything about this, but at the same time it would be wrong for a capt or a vice to sow a seed or two, but yet again theres not a lot that you can do without the evidence (and that i presume would be very hard to acquire).

Just remember that it is usually friendship thats unites a team, sometimes things happen and that people move on.

Have a good day!

Lol Jesta.

Free agents? lmao, ur taking this site too seriously, m8!!

Must be my poor english understanding because what Hovis donīt want, and he is absolutly right, is for team Captains planting the seed of doubt in other team players mind.

Players leaving their teams, well, we are used to see that. But the league rules say a player who leaves his team can only play the league in next season, right? At least should.

I īm sure the Alley Cats Captain would never recruit someone from another team disrespecting every Captain with that action.

Thatīs what i love about this team. we respect every1.!!!!!!

It would be so nice if every1 did the same.

Yes I know, like i trust you not to use msn.

Guess it will happen and proof is required. i started this for fun and never realised how competitive it would become.

I made a rule in league season that no member can play for more than one team without both captains consenting. I never thought a transfer or other such period would be necessary, nor see poaching.

I guess I haven't any control except to rely on your good nature :(

...so insulted that no one has tried to recruit me. Is it the hair?

I am pleased to say that every player on our roster is a either a virgin Ace or asked to join our fine club from a position of availability (similar to missionary, I think).

A couple of our players have been approached about leaving for another team. One of them stayed because of the photographs I have on file of that weekend in Bali. The other because we refused to honour his pension if he left.

It would be very discouraging for Captains and teammates to loose a player through recruitment by another squad. It is kind of tacky.

On the other hand, I want all players to be in the most enjoyable situation they can find. We have scouted for character, skill, and fit with our team. Someone jumping for the sake of being on a winning team wouldn't qualify on the first count for us.

Yours self-righteously,

B

Bento, m8 I have to admit I tried to recruit your Cat, Bento-Cat --> he might be getting on now at the ripe old age of 12 but he's too awesome not to try for.

Yeah..thanks a lot Panda. He got wind of your pursuit and has been a little diva ever since..insisting on 3 a.m. feedings, hourly ear-scratches, and his own window sill.

He thinks he's David Beckham now..and probably at about the same phase of his career.

Sorry, Panda -- but I have to agree with hovis. Poaching players from a team mid-season, to me, is a big no-no. You know how I feel about it -- I'll leave it at that. I never spoke in the forum about it, but since you posted...

Free agents? When the season isn't even over yet -- that's just poaching -- especially when the team is not even told and could be left high and dry at the end of the season. Thank goodness we found out. You took 3 including yourself (all in secret), but tried to take 5. You weren't planning to tell us until the season was over -- where exactly would that have left us. Guess it wouldn't matter as long as your team is together, correct?

And yes, maybe some of your team is made up of new players -- but I know how many you 'tried' to recruit that were on other teams as well (and not just ours)-- people who turned you down. I believe this kind of thing, as hovis states, should be discouraged.

Unhappy? Wait till the season is over and go for it. Or just let us know you're leaving and do so right away.

It's all in the past now, but since you decided to post, I felt thoughts from the other side of the coin should be posted as well.

Still wish your team good luck with the upcoming season.

Night

Patti - I think you should have stopped after the first word you typed and left it at that.

All the best,

Obviously you still think you did nothing wrong, Alan. Maybe it's time people know. Maybe it will discourage others from doing this kind of thing in the future.

If you want to kick off on the forum and embarrass yourself Patti - go right ahead - but I think your behaviour here is unbecoming from a table moderator. Enjoy.

I luurve the rough and tumble of forum debate. The innate sensibilities to look someone in the eyes, launch a sweetly aimed table fork directly between, smile and say, "Have a nice day."
Cracks me up so for the sake of my own physical well-being I'd best not become embroiledl LMEAO

Its not that I don't want to expound Patti - but I don't think there is point in telling the 'full' story there as it will not change anything and indeed, I fear you lack the self-awareness to take onboard the feedback about your behaviour.

It's called having integrity. Some people are sorely lacking in it.

in·teg·ri·ty : adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.

As I said above, Jesta, every situation is unique .... and if every situation was typed out in full to give the proper picture on here ... it would be like Dani said on another thread: enough to fill a book.

It would be nice if some people acted with a bit more maturity and I am surprised at the lack of integrity too with some people.

Answer me this one then Hovis. Are you suggesting that Captains have the power to stop players leaving at the end of the season?
This is neither desirable nor workable. I however, found myself in a position where one of my players signed for another team without even telling either myself or the team that he was leaving. This was before the cup competition even started and therefore,as far as I am concerned still in the current season. The first I knew was when the player in question posted "I'm joining the ********* in the new player registration thread. He was immediately assigned to his new team without a "by your leave" by Tia. I would have expected some sort of contact from the league officials to ask if this was ok.

Add....I see that the player has ACTUALLY played in the cup for his new team when still officially in our team squad. The mind boggles.

As far as the Pandy situation goes, I cannot believe for one minute that he would do anything against "the spirit" of the league. If there are no rules written, how can anybody be accused of breaking them?

And just as an aside...
Night...you were originally on hooves roster and then asked if you could leave so that you could play with your chums. I saw nothing wrong in that...
Whats the difference here?
Am I missing something?
