New League Season 09/10 Info

The Omaha debate has asked many questions and I note some are in the dark as to what's happening (I posted previously). I hope this helps and clarifies a little.


Season2009/10


1. What: Two leagues of 8 teams,

2. Who wins: Top two from each league will enter a round robin decider playing each other once.

3. Who forms each league: Taken from present league finish i.e. Lge A:1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15 (15 being replacements) and Lge B:2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16 (16 being Ninjas)

Dealers.................................... Int Ace Kickers
Potheads.................................. Bravehearts
Wonkas Wann Bees................... Hoof Hearted
Untouchables............................ Alley Cats
Village Peaople......................... Pokertiers
Mad1s...................................... TimeLords
PokerPuffs................................ Souls sisters
Replacements........................... The Ninjas


Old names, will change for new tables.


4. Format: League A will start on Holdem and league B will start on Omaha. Swop over every two weeks. (We now have a scheduled Omaha table and both have been reduced to 1k buy in)

5. End of season tourneys (league only). We will start with the team knockout cup and then singles (two formats do away with top team player). Now singles is up to you, but I see it as this:-

Top ten Omaha and holdem in separate finals to decide each formats top player and a top ten combined final ( playing both formats), to decide our Champion.
If you want the top team player finals please say so, I haven't formatted yet and we have lots of time.

All other tourneys will be kept depending on their success.

Season2010/11

Two leagues, but now a 1st and 2nd Division.

1. Who is each league: The 1st div will be the top 4 finishers taken from both this years leagues 09/10, 2nd Div bottom 4.

2. Promotion/Demotion. The top 2 or 3 from 2nd will be promoted and bottom 2 or 3 from 1st Div relegated (your choice on how many)

3. Tourneys: The league cup will continue and all teams are eligible. Singles I will come up with a format to suit all.

We now have working committees and are as such:

Results/ record compilation, league table updates and registration: Tiandra

Table bookings and allotment: Froggywoman/Tiandra

Referee allocation: woosh

Appeals, discipline and complaints committee: Boozybird, Flyingfinn, Bento and MMxx.

Last but not least Emil is putting 1,000,000 chips in as a prize. Its distribution will be decided at a later date. ty Emil :)

Clear and cool. Thanks, hovis.

Re. the Individual stuff: In general, I like the idea of keeping track of individual points for interest, but not making it anything to be rewarded/pursued so that teamplay is always the goal. I also like the idea of each team selecting one player to represent them in a final table (team could do this as a random draw, a thank you to Captain (hint), by top scorer, etc..).

... will the round robin be 'holdem alone' or 'holdem and omaha'?

Hi hovis

how about bottom 3 are in divison 2 and 5th from each group play each other to stay up, that way you could add two more teams next season an have groups of 9. l just saw that saw that some player tried to create another team.

just i thought. both ways are cool and im looking forward to next season.

also is this seasons positions going to be based on accumalated points like last season or is it going to based on wins and losses?

surely we need more refs even if its trusted members and not mods. no offence but we cant expect woosh to ref omaha and texas at the same time plus every other night its to much. we need atleast 4 refs i recon

Hovis means that woosh will be sorting out refs for each game..... There is a list of us who have said they will be available if and when required.

No, most all the mods take turns reffing the matches. We sign a list, and Jim keeps a nice and tidy system for it. The reason it's a mod, is that sometimes moderation of a player becomes necessary.

As of now, we're called the League Friendliness Committee. You can reach us by msn or by mailing to leaguecommittee [at] groups [dot] live [dot] com (not fully sure that works, but you can try). Our name outlines that we expect players to be fair and friendly.


Sounds like a great league set-up to me, and I'm very glad us Dealers don't have to play the ace kickers, hoof hearted or poker ninjas at first. I'm looking forward to that 1 million. Especially Birdy and Gollum could use some of that right now.
