As the new season starts and league games will take priority over friendlies - it'll become more tricky to grab a time-slot for a friendly(especially holdem).

I suggest that a team can only book one friendly match at a time within a given week and once they have played the match, they can only then book another one - that's what they do at my tennis club and it works well.

This might help everyone get a fair go regarding friendlies and make the captain's jobs a little bit easier too.

What does everyone else think?

I thought it would be easier to book a table for a texas friendly, because half the teams will have to play a Omaha league game, so the table for texas should be available more often.

In my experience, you have to book the table for a friendly, even if you dont know if you can get a full team or not. Every time we didnt book it in advance, once we knew we had a full team, the date and time was already taken for an other friendly. Thats a difficult subject Panda.

Well, maybe less friendlies will be played once we all focus on league games - its just a bit unfair if one person books more than one friendly and there is no opponent mentioned either - it stops a lot of the other captains/vice captains from bothering to arrange anything.

Good point panda. If you note each table will have only 4 league matches in a two span, as opposed to last years 7. I did plan on having other tourneys through league schedule, because of this, for instance start league cup when league is running etc.

But a restriction on team practice isn't such a bad idea...any other members have thoughts?

The team which will be most affected are the Aces and Cats who play alot of friendlies.
No in stopping any1 booking games in advance as there are may dates open if 1 looks properly.

if bookings are made at 8 and 10 pm when considering omaha and holdem thats 4 games a day that can be pld which is 8 teams. And there are many teams who cant get a team together often which means theres no point restricting those who have organised there teams and oand organise games and can get teams together.

I would prefer not to limit my team to the number of friendlies they play. We don't get a chance to play many -- sometimes life just gets in the way (or time zones). But, when we do have an opportunity where most are available, I'd rather not be limited to a specific amount of games during that window.

Also, it could become an administrative nightmare to keep track of who played how many friendlies when and with what team. I believe those that run the league (THANK YOU) have enough to keep track of. And what happens if you don't play a friendly but were open to do so? Rainchecks?

I think it would become too complicated, and honestly, with the league divided between texas and omaha, I don't foresee a problem. If it did get difficult, I'd much rather see a new table dedicated to friendlies only than be limited as to when a team can play one. The league will be fine the way it's set up now, and don't believe bookings will be a serious issue. We can always relook at it later if it does become a problem.

My 2 cents.

Gee, it seemed like last season, we played a team....a friendly first, then a match.
Was I dreaming this?

I mean, it is entirely possible I did dream this....

No, you're not dreaming -- we had this discussion last season and it all worked out fine.

Part of my concern is that I can't get the team together often...we're struggling with a great little core of players...and then when I do manage, all the dates will be booked. This puts serious restrictions on us.
We'll see how it goes. Hope people can just be courteous and understanding.

how is there a restriction on you when there are 4 booking per dayo choose from with a little bit of organising you can fin a bookin eg at this moment there is:

holdem

Friday 30th 10pm
Sun 1st 8pm
tue 3rd 8pm
tue 3rd 8pm
thu 5th 8pm
thu 5h 10pm
Sat 7th 8pm
Sat 7th 10pm
Sun 9th onward alll dates and times available

Omaha

Mon 26th 8pm
Mon 26th 10pm
tue 27th 8pm
tue 27th 10pm
wed 28th 8pm
thu 29th 10pm
fri 30th 8pm
fri 30th 10pm
Sat 31st 8pm
Sat 31st 10pm
Sun 1st 8pm
Mon 2nd 7.30pm
Tue 3rd 8pm

All dates after this are available

There would be even more bookings available if people didnt book 9pm slots as another team cant play on same day on that type of table

So YOU see there are many bookings available you just need to take the time out to look
