Hi all,
Well the great ppl who populate planet TFPR have taken the bull by the horns and some great National teams have started to form, we already have a complete team from HOLLAND, whilst AUSTRALIA, UK, NTH AMERICA and a CELTIC team are being formed.
The reason for this post is I think we need to set some ground rules, these are by no means set in concrete but are up for discussion:
1) No person may play for more than 1 country (note PANDA lol )
2) Matches should be played the same as the league but preferably out of league season (discuss)
3) A country must name 5 players and a maximum 2 subs and these players cannot be added to for the entire season (discuss)
4) All matches will be Texas Hold'Em
5) Question- do we need referees - surely were adult enough to govern ourselves? (discuss)
6)Matches will be organised by team captains in another thread to be started (discuss)
7)If a team (of 5 + 2 subs) cannot field a team at the time of the scheduled match, the match must go ahead and the team that is short must forfeit the points - NO subs from another country, if another National sub is available the opposing Captain must decide.(discuss)
If you can think of anything else that needs to be put down, please add here
In the case of Australia, if we have more that 7 players (5 on team and 2 subs) I will hold a 3 match series, awarding points (same as the present league) to find the top 5 players, these players will represent Aus in all matches for the entire season, unless extreme circumstances are forthcoming (you can see I like big words - just dont know what they mean) those 5 (plus 2 subs) will represent Aus. How other countries pick their teams is entirely up to them.

2-Depends, it can be nice to have a change in seizon with this cup, off seizon can be more difficult to organize i guess
3-ehh I wuld like more players , may be 1 more. Think the UK will have trouble with soo much players and so few places..
4-Very very very agreed
5- I think we need no reffs
6-agreed
7- I think we have to let the teamcaptains then descide..
8- NO Msn lol

1) Yes (Panda lol, he is in every team)
2) There alot of time during league season and we could spread games out.
3) I think 10 players will be better as there a high demand by players to play in this league.
4) Omaha too will be good that way i can have 2 team team UK HOLDEM AND TEAM UK OMAHA so less players miss out
5) We dont need refs (only for panda)
6)Yes
7) Yes

Why don't we play a round robin league, teams play each other twice. Have an accumulative points system and after all teams have played each other the top two teams play a best of 3 final, the team with the highest accumulative score wins.
That way if there's quite a few players in a team, they all get to play. It could also be done in a week, sort of like the world cup.. Just a thought..
Oh and i'm strongly opposed to the inclusion of Omaha, my mum said it's too dangerous for me to play and if i do she'll put me on the naughty step

Hi all,
Well the recruitment process seems to have settled down and the majority of countries have sufficient numbers, I propose a meeting between Captains of countries and any other interested party to discuss how this thing is going to run.
I suggest this meeting take place on Friday 18th December at 9pm (UK) which converts to 4pm (New York) and 7am (the following day)(Australia - Queensland). If this time is suitable to the majority, if it is not please let me know and if enough cannot make it we will reschedule.
If you have any questions please post them here to allow others to think about their answers and alternatives, please dont post responses here, just questions.
I have also asked Hovis to allow none league players to play and if he agrees this may allow more players in - so my first question for discussion on Friday is -
Q1) Do we need more players?
Q2) Holdem and Omaha or just Holdem
Q3) Points awarded
Q4) Number of matches (fixed or keep it running for indefinate period)
Q4) Players nationality (can non residents play for another country)
Im sure I'll think of more and will post shortly, please continue to post questions, the next being Q5) (that way we can refer to a question easily
My MSN is - scottyslaney@hotmail.com and I will be online on Friday - see you all then, and in case I forget - have a happy, safe and enjoyable Christmas.

all sounds like a good plan Graham the 18th is fine for me, btw.
One thing I think is that we are better having fewer but larger gangs ... then the captains can maybe field multiple teams accordingly - and hopefully these squads will stand for a long time to come.
I feel its better to have a large number of people all pulling for each other, whoever is playing ... its not about racking up lots of games (we already have the league for that) - its about enjoying the comaradre that comes with being invloved:
This is actually a great opportunity to include more people into the mix than just the lucky ones that are already in a league team - I've been saying to several Celts that are keen tourney players but not in a team to register as subs so they can enjoy being on the Celtic Nation Team.
Good people are interested, they just don't have an easy way to get into the mix ... well here it is.
Peace out.

Mr Panda,
We do OK on the Isle of Man for sprting greats tyvm. Aswell as Manxblue (who is pretty decent on moth senses of the word), we also have:
Mark Cavendish - fastest road sprint cyclist in the world
Conor Cummins - fastest road racer in the world
I am also pretty quick at getting my chippies too. There you are Pandacakes - food for thought m8 :-)

But....
I cant see it can be allowed for none registered players to join unless they join and add up to sub list or team...U know why..., so more then 10 per team, oww why not, but registered.
Q2..There was enough mumbke and roaring about the Omaha included. It will be a very long seison and again we will be having 2 leagues i guess, i think only Hold is better.
Q3 The league points system works great so why change it?
Q4 depends on the amount of teams
Q5 If u make it like us a mixed team benedutch , its oke i guess
Q6 will like england get more teams like eng 1,2,3 lots of players there, or do they have to make a pokeroff to get to 1 team....
Q7 do we play all against each other or knock out(I personaly, dont like the knock out system...)
Q8 can alans all other nicks be added with diff teams?? lmao
Q9 do we organise it ourselves, we can u know...

Alan,
I assume you mean
Q5) should we have fewer but larger 'gangs'?
Q6) should the teams be set in concrete and maybe have a ongoing perpetual championship?
Is that right mate?
G
Lets get some questions together that we can discuss, having had time to think of multiple scenarios guys

Hi all,
OK, 16 days until registration closes and we have a total of 6 teams comprising 74 players, pretty good, well done all.
Only problem I see at present is where to put the South American Team if they dont get enough? merge with US/Canada and have a HUGE team?
The British Commonwealth Team doesnt seem to be doing very well but lets leave them alone until the 31st
Hope everyone has a happy, healthy Christmas a gets a chance to see family at this time of year

So the questions for the meeting so far are:
Q1) Do we need more players?
Q2) Holdem and Omaha or just Holdem
Q3) Points awarded
Q4) Number of matches (fixed or keep it running for indefinate period)
Q5) Players nationality (can non residents play for another country)
Q6) should we have fewer but larger 'gangs'?
Q7) should the teams be set in concrete and maybe have a ongoing perpetual championship?
Q8) Can larger countries have more than 1 team?
Q9) Can a player switch countries during the tournament?
Anymore??

Q10) Should team numbers be capped?
Q11) Refer to Q8 - if yes, should those teams be locked and no swopping between teams be allowed (10 per team) (This would allow the USA/CAN, Celts (almost) and the England Team to have 2 teams each).

Q12) Should a INDIVIDUAL points tally be kept throughout the series and crown an INDIVIDUAL world champion as well as a WORLD Champion country at the end (this person may not necessarily be on the winning team)?
Q13) Should this be an annual event?
