SCORING IN WORLD CUP MATCHES

Hi all scoring in your upcoming World Cup matches will be the same as the league with an additional 5 points for the winning team (as decided at the Captains meeting in December.)

So First person out = 0
2nd person out = 0
3rd person out = 1
4th person out = 2
5th person out = 3
6th person out = 4
7th person out = 5
8th person out = 6
9th person out = 8
winning player = 10

So the maximum number of point to be scored by a winning team is 38

Should a entire team fail to turn up, regardless of the reason, the other team will be awarded 38 points.

Both Captains are to keep score and post in http://www.thefreepokerroom.com/forum/5_4842_1.html - remember what you post is what you will be awarded DO NOT FORGET THE 5 POINTS FOR A WIN

Zam / Emi

The following players are NOT yet registered as subs with the league, as such they have 24 hours (until 11pm GMT Saturday 2nd Jan 2010) or they will be ineligable to play in the first match.

Which means you will play Canada with only 2 players

Dear Tia,
I hope that now is all ok with the registration of our teammates Majstoriste, Nikolaa94, and Baksuz. Hope now all of our team are registered as well. Unfortunately, except me and Emi, they r not good in english as i told u before, so lot of work and spelling letter by letter to write the text. Also Majstoriste had a problem with his forum password, and with a lot of help of Swampy, he signed there as Majstoriste1, to confirm and register as a player. Hope that EmiSegi, Zamlatotina, Open_MK and Radoslav registration are ok.
Cant wait to se the first match with Canada, our good poker friends! Same like the players of all other teams.... let the games start!! lol

Hi Macedonia
Hopefully you will be able to play a friendly against Australia, the date and time I think would be best (for us both) is Sunday 24th Jan at 10am (Skopje) that converts to 8pm NSW time the same day (Sunday), please post in our thread http://www.thefreepokerroom.com/forum/5_4717_5.html#msg153749 if you accept or want a change of date

Cheers and Good Luck in the WC

Message to all Captains,

When you book the table please mention clearly if its a 'F' (friendly) or a 'WCM R?' (World Cup Match, round number)

This makes it a little easier for me and for G.

Many thanks
:-)

Hi Emi
FDound a few tips on team play you might want to share with your guys, the first one is from the Canadians:
Some info on team play and how it differs from individual play in tourneys:

Basically it's the same as any other hold em tourney, except you're playing with a team -- so team play is important. The key is not to play 'against' your own team mates if you are the only ones left in the hand (just 'check' if you're both equal in chips).

Also, try to pass chips to those who need them if the opportunity arises (and the other team is no longer in the hand) -- ie. one of our team members is very low on chips and you have a lot. It's important to keep as many team members in as long as possible in team play. So pretend an opportunity comes up where it is only you and your team mates left in the hand. You fold to give the other person the chips, no matter what your hand. NEVER take out your own teammate if you can prevent it.

In team matches -- from 8th to 1st place gets points (higher points for higher placement), and at the end of the game, the team with the most points wins. So unlike a regular individual tourney, your team can win in a league match even if you don't take first place (because you had the most team members in top positions and a total of higher points).

This one is from Swampy
The only thing I have for now is on chip passing. Here are 2 examples, 1 correct and 1 not.

Example 1: G and myself are the last in a hand. I have 1500 in chips and G has 500. I have a killer hand and G has crap cards. I will raise 400, G will then go all in, I then fold giving him my chips. As G says, even if I have a Royal and as much as I would love to show it, I would fold it.

Example 2: G and myself are the last in a hand. I have 1500 in chips and G has 500. I have a killer hand and G has crap cards. I still want to pass chips but get it wrong by doing the following.
I raise G 500. He has 2 choices, call or fold. If he calls against my killer hand, I take him out of the game (which I do not want), if he folds I take what chips he has put on the table (which I also do not want).
Please remember that if you raise to pass chips, Never raise more than the person you intend to pass to has in chips. If you do and they call you will not be able to fold.
Passing chips can be tricky and you might not even get the opportunity to pass chips.

Just take your time, have a think about what you are about to do before clicking away on the mouse.
Other than that, all I ask is that you enjoy yourselves. This is not a do or die, life or death game. We are playing to have fun and with the poker gods blessings, win.

Good luck and see you all at the tables.

Swamp

Ps. if 2 or more team mates are the last in a hand and no one has heaps of chips to pass, then check, check and check, Do Not Raise. Let the poker gods pick a winner.

And this is my version;
Hi guys,
OK Team play, this is very different from individual play, as you can see from the thread the scoring system rewards the team that stays in with most ppl the longest, so the only way that happens is we all work together and help each other, it goes like this:

When there are only 2 aussies left in the hand, the one with the most chips MUST fold - dont care if you have quad Aces - you must fold- NO arguments.

If an aussie raises the pot during the hand, this indicates he/she has a (possibly in their opinion) a winning hand and you should (if you dont have a brilliant hand) fold, never ever raise a team mate.

CHIP PASSING This is used when a aussie has a lot of chips and another aussie is still in the hand, the aussie with the large amount of chips bets big (if betting has been low by the opposition) thereby scaring the other team to fold, however the purpose is to pass chips to the poor aussie so the poor aussie must also bet which usually means an all in by him (takes a lot of trust - something we must try and get) as soon as the opposition all fold the aussie who bet big folds thereeby passing chips to the poorer aussie.

The way the Chipmates do it is that all chipmates KNOW that another chipmate will not put them at risk by betting big unless he intends to pass chips, if you are going to try this do not try it on the last card as if the poor aussie goes all in there is no chance to fold and you will probably take him/her out, complicated i know but practice is what this match is all about.
