Cobra -- our game has to be played before the 7th. You guys picked the original date weeks ahead of time. I'm not sure if I can scramble a team together before the 7th.

Not sure what to do here...

p.s. Why couldn't you all play without tin on the original date?

Hi Night / Tincat,

As you are both aware I have been canvassing the other Captains to decide what to do if your match isn't played by the 7th.

In many cases the various Captains each wanted different scores to be awarded but as this is a fun game and the aim is to improve international relations, make new friends and improve TFPR site, it has been decided to give you an additional 10 days to play your match.

You have until midnight (GMT on the 15th February 2010) to play your match, if it cannot be played by then, for whatever reason the points will be awarded to Canada (33 points and Warriors 6 points) no-one will be awarded the 5 for the win as no match took place.

This is in Canada's favour because (as many Captains put it):
1) There was no reason to cancel other than TinCats computer problems;
2) The lateness of the cancellation;
3) The lack of a suitable date being requested by the Warriors between cancellation (30Jan10) and today (as HOME team it is the Warriors responsibility to organize the match date and table booking).

To their credit the majority of Captains do not want to penalize the Warriors unfairly (particularly those who were able to play on the original date (NOTE: US1 played Benedutch with only 4 players recently).

The voting was 2 each to all 3 options with some variations, therefore I have taken certain elements from all suggestions are formatted the above response.

Having just checked Canada's team thread I see they are playing Europe on the 12th February, it is requested that Canada respond favorably to all requests for this match (against the Warriors) to be played. The Warriors MUST give Canada AT LEAST 4 days notice to play. I hope everyone concerned believes this s the fairest way to handle this situation, Rules will be formatted (for 2011 World Cup) to include this incident and hopefully avoid future repeat occurrences.

Agreed. Jesus, can't we sub players (ie can not a Celt 2 play if necessary, I am willing).

It's just a game dudes, if you need to consolidate teams if we are despearate for players then let's do it.

I still do not understand why the original date could not have been played. I am crazy busy this weekend, but please post a suggested date in our thread with fair notice, and I'll see who is available on our team.

i agree cobs,
the nations cup was established to cement international relations. you and tc have put a lot of work into arranging the teams and could well do without hassle. if it is going to cause either of you further inconvenience just let them have the points.

I don't believe this is all going on.

(1) When people commit to a cause they should stick to it,they offered their services so they should make themselves available.

(2) We are now in a position where we supposedly have 20 players and can't even raise 1 team of 5, Madness!!!

(3) I suggest to whoever organises the whole thing, is to please allow mixing the two teams where necessary to at least get a game on and to stop the crazy bickering.

E.g: I play for the Celts but I was available to play tonight for the Warriors we are of the same blood so I don't think it would have mattered if we could have played whenever.

If it means making certain rules like sacraficing points for the team that makes a change or being allowed to only make say 5 changes in a season,surely this would make a whole lot more sense. Anyway I'm fed up ranting now, sorry about that but i'm now to nick some chips. Hope it all sorts it's self out..John C.O.Y.C's
