Here we go again?? 'The Kickers'??

We are the International Ace Kickers (also known as The Aces, The Kickers, IAK...just like the The Alley Cats are known as The Cats), a founding League team.

For the sake of clarity, respect, and creativity, new or re-named teams should be prohibited from using names or parts of names that are already taken unless it involves the use of the term 'Poker' or 'Hold'em'.

So...team names like The Dirty Dealers, The Villagers, The Kickers should not be allowed. We went through this debate around The Smoking Aces calling themselves 'The Aces' when scheduling etc.. The ruling was that they should refrain from doing so...then we kissed and made up. MacDaddy, the last thing we want is to have to do more make-up kissing with you lot. Get creative...many words come to mind that would aptly describe you...

Does it mean I'll have to edit all my posts ?

hmmm bit of a tough one that...as most not all of 'poker related' names have been used...

bit harsh really...would you then also not be able to use..'THE' if your going to go down that road...

also the int ace kickers and the smoking aces use a same word so techicly you argument is void cos it already exists and if mac cant have that then one of the 'aces' needs to re name..

sorry ben but to carry out things you need to start with a level playing field with every one from the start,or these arguments will go on and on...

bento its no problem we can change name, ill talk to my team. It was something i was thinkin of doing anyway. So its not a problem.

Like Anton said most poker related names have been taken, lets hope we dont find new threads like this every time it happens.

Bento:

I think your confusing me with yourself, its your name which aptly describes you.

PS. Good to have you come back from the woodwork

bat: I was listing this as an example of what some new team should not be allowed to call itself...The Dealers will always be The Dirty Dealers as far as I'm concerned because of the way they humiliated us all in year one!

anton; the Smoking Aces came along deep into last year and we, The Aces, argued against them being able to use the word..the settlement was that they always needed to use Smoking along with it. The fact that one bad situation exists doesn't negate an argument against further error. It is a small league..there are all kinds of poker-related words and phrases left...as well as names like The Soul Sisters that aren't related to poker but fit fine for a fit bunch.

mac: thanks..but don't expect snuggling...and btw, my last name is not Ver!

On a more serious note. I appreciate the fact that you are willing to reconsider the team name, Mac. Thanks for that.

How about "The Nuts."
A poker term nobody has used yet...

Funny, Daniella...but of course that would be confusing as the term legitimately describes so many teams in the League.

I was not aware of a ruling that the SmokinAces are not to use the term "The Aces"
and have been saying it when referring to my team since joining the League. As captain
of the SmokinAces, I will inform my team of this, but in all fairness, I believe it may
be time for a name change for our team as well in that we have become accustomed
to using that term and some habits are hard to break.

The current season is the first time most of our teammates have played in the
League, myself included, and I believe it's safe to say that none are not aware
of the previous debate concerning nonuse of the nic "The Aces" when referring to
The SmokinAces.

Not a problem. Thanks for this bit of information.

Thanks Mac; just want to tell you that whenever I think "SmokinAces" I'll think of you.
As I have said before, you're the best captain that I know and wish your team much
success and luck :-)

I totally agree with the name change and love creativity which why I hated the name from the start lol, but bento you could have been a little nicer addressing the issue lol.

No foolme, I am incapable of this thing you call 'niceness'. When I enter into discussions on such serious world matters as the TPR League, I do so with vigour and authority (granted by me to me). Please do not interpret any of my remarks/tone on any Forum subject as anything but angry and humourless. I have a reputation to maintain.

Evanee/mac...I used the term 'ruling' to describe what was a mutual agreement between the IAK and the Smokin' Aces with the involvment of Sir Hovis. It wasn't a ruling...just a sometimes heated and sometime humourous exchange (documented in our respective threads). We took a stand, had a big fit, reached an understanding (nothing binding) and moved on...the group hug was relatively painless.

Now I'm just suggesting a 'guideline' to avoid future debate around names ...also, the IAK just shined our boots and really don't want to have to use them for anything messy just now.

Bento,

You have no problem with me; your boots are safe.

Unless of course, if The IAK would like to join The SmokinAces in a friendly game of poker;
in that case, your boots are in trouble................big trouble; let me know. :)

It doesn't matter about an agreement being made or not. At this point, since The Kickers
and SmokinAces have decided that name changes are in order, the subject is mute. Let's play poker.

Friendly game of poker with The SmokinAces anyone? Let's talk :)

I'm quite certain I paid for a 5 minute argument...all I'm getting is the automatic gainsaying of my assertions.

Moving on...a lovely sentiment and invitation, Evanee. I will forward it on to my teammates, although most have dispursed to their off-season pursuits (MI5, gigoloing, part-time terrorism, etc.).
